Paul’s initial interest in sports and biomechanics led him to pursue a degree in Kinesiology at Brock University. In 2006, he graduated with Honours and became a registered Kinesiologist through the Ontario Kinesiology Association. In 2013, Paul completed his diploma studies at the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition graduating as a Registered Holistic Nutritionist and in 2014, was asked to join the faculty to teach the sport nutrition component of this program.

Paul’s goal is to incorporate the knowledge gained from this program into the various treatment and exercise programs he has creates for his clients.Paul’s career started in 2003 as a personal trainer while he was completing his Kinesiology degree. During this time he obtained certifications from Canfit Pro™ and the Canadian Professional Trainers Network (CPTN). As a personal trainer, Paul regularly provided advice to clients on fitness training, rehabilitation and nutrition. He has had the opportunity to work with a variety of clients including athletes, senior citizens and individuals striving to lose weight.

In 2006, Paul was hired as the Fitness Manager at the Niagara Falls location for Good Life Fitness, one of Canada’s largest fitness chains. This position required him to develop programs for weight loss and athletic performance, as well as oversee the program prescription of the 18 personal trainers he managed. After graduating as a Kinesiologist, Paul worked in a number of physical rehabilitation clinics in both Niagara and Hamilton. At these clinics he worked primarily with injury and post surgical rehabilitation.

Paul’s experiences led him to realize that the traditional approaches to rehabilitation and training being applied in most facilities were inadequate. He felt that those programs failed to truly address the client’s injuries and merely sought to provide symptomatic relief. Paul’s goal for his clients was to restore optimal functioning thereby improving their overall quality of life, but he realized that he needed a deeper understanding of how the body functions. To help expand his knowledge and ultimately provide better care and advice for his clients, Paul began attending courses in human movement assessment, functional exercise and holistic nutrition. In 2012, he became certified as a Level II Functional Movement System (FMS™) practitioner, which allows him to evaluate movement patterns and restore them to an optimal level through specific treatment and exercise programs. In 2016 Paul added Functional Range Condition Mobility Specialist (FRCms) to his list of certifications. This method of exercise assessment and prescription is based around teaching the body to acquire usable mobility throughout a full range of motion. This makes the body more efficient in movement and decreases the likelihood for injury.

Paul’s passion for nutrition has led him to the development of several guided nutrition programs and lectures. Most recently Paul has begun working with local businesses and organizations on establishing healthy eating practices.

In 2013, Paul joined Wellspring Niagara as their rehabilitation consultant. Wellspring Niagara strives to provide quality driven, patient focused care that is accessible to all cancer patients.Paul received his certification in Advanced Rehab Techniques in Oncology through Wellspring Niagara and is very excited to be part of this outstanding organization.

Through assessment, exercise and nutrition, Paul continually strives to provide the most effective and efficient care for his clients.
