Strength & Conditioning Coach, Certified Fascial Stretch Therapist, BioSignature Consultant

Asim earned an Honours Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Brock University where he graduated with First Class Honours and was a member of the Dean’s Honour List.

Upon completion of his studies at Brock University, Asim sought out to become an athletic coach with a unique skill set in order to set himself apart from the pack. Seeking a deeper understanding of human anatomy and physiology first and foremost, Asim enrolled in Physiology Graduate Studies at the University of Toronto where he performed skin and myofascial surgery at the Hospital for Sick Children. Following three published studies, Asim accepted a job in Bioinformatics which involved bio molecular research and data curation forBlueprint Initiative’s BIND project at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. During this time he intensely studied molecular interactions and physiological pathways essential to function and good health. This experience led him to an opportunity to co-manage the development of a Bioinformatics database in India for Thomson Scientific.

After completing the overseas project Asim decided it was time to merge his scientific knowledge with his athletic experiences and apply it towards a preventative health and fitness practice. Once certified as a personal trainer, Asim worked countless hours training hundreds of clients in Toronto’s competitive market while pursuing further education with some the most renowned coaches and therapists in the world.

Asim has completed certifications with:

  • Charles Poliquin (PICP Level 2: State Level Strength & Conditioning Coach, PICP Level 2 BioSignature Modulation™ Practitioner, PICP Instant Muscle Strengthening Techniques (PIMST), Trigger Point Therapist, Sweden Hypertrophy Semi-private Internship)
  • Hani Kanama (Level 1 Olympic Weightlifting Coach)
  • JC Santana (IHP Level 1 MMA Strength & Conditioning Coach)
  • Ann & Chris Frederick (Stretch to Win Level 1 Fascial Stretch Therapist)
  • Kevin Darby (DTS Functional Assessment, Exercise, and Program Design)
  • Eoin Lacey (ISI Modified Strongman & Metabolic Conditioning)
  • Ajamu Bernard (Kbell Training Academy Level 2 Kettlebell Trainer)

Asim believes that while we all possess similar physiology we do not all function the same. This can occur for numerous reasons including genetics (SNPs, gene expression) and environment(chemical exposure, food quality, and stress level). When counselling clients using BioSignature, Asim’s goal has always been to recognize limiting factors and then work to bring the client closer to their goals and potential using an inside out model. When training clients for athletics,

Asim recommends soft tissue treatment to remedy problematic areas in conjunction with training for sport-specific strength and balance leading to optimal strength generation and improved performance. When lecturing at corporations and sports clubs, he motivates others to take action towards wellness and optimal brain performance through better nutrition and exercise choices.

Prior to and throughout his professional career, Asim has regularly participated in volleyball, basketball, track and field, karate, boxing, mixed martial arts, and weight lifting. After years of athletics and targeted training, he won his first OPA Bodybuilding Physique competition in 2010. Asim feels fortunate to have become a qualified instructor of Bruce Lee’s Jeet Kune Do in his early twenties as it was this accomplishment which ultimately fuelled his desire to motivate and help others succeed.
