B.Kin. (Hons.), RKin
Adrianna’s passionate belief that exercise is the foundation of overall health and wellness is what inspired her to pursue her undergraduate studies in Kinesiology at Brock University, graduating in 2014 with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree.
Following her graduation from Brock, Adrianna worked alongside the rehabilitative specialist team at Hotel Dieu Shaver Health and Rehabilitation Centre. While working in the neurology department with patients diagnosed with chronic, progressive conditions such as, Parkinson’s disease and Multiple Sclerosis, Adrianna discovered a passion for rehabilitation through exercise. This experience inspired her to complete the competency examinations to become a registered Kinesiologist through the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario.
During her studies at Brock and since becoming a Registered Kinesiologist, Adrianna has gained extensive knowledge working in fitness facilities, long term care homes and rehab centres. She has had the opportunity to develop and implement fitness routines, rehabilitative exercise programs designed to restore function and mobility and programs to reduce the risk of falls and fall related injuries as well as improving overall quality of life.
From her experiences, Adrianna believes that being proactive is a fundamental component to a healthy living philosophy. Adrianna is committed to continually expanding her knowledge and experience base in order to help her instill the proactive mindset with her clients. She has completed continuing education in core assessment and training, functional movement and assessment and oculomotor therapy (Dynavision). These courses will enhance her ability to assess and restore dysfunction of the locomotor system and associated syndromes.
Most recently she has joined the team at Wellspring Niagara after having received her certification in Advanced Rehab Techniques in Oncology through Wellspring Niagara. There she designs individual exercise rehabilitation programs for oncology clients with the aim to help build strength, improve quality of life and restore independence.
Adrianna is excited to work with the multidisciplinary team as NHRC where she was mentored while studying for her kinesiology competency exams. Adrianna is eager to apply the theories of rehabilitation into useful tools in clinical practice. In addition to the clinical aspects of her work, Adrianna will also be developing and leading numerous fitness classes as well as a specialized rehabilitation program for Parkinson’s patients to be offered at NHRC.
